Home starts with you. With Habitat for Humanity, you have the opportunity to build in your community. Because of the help of volunteers like you, whole neighborhoods improve and completely transform. Through this transformation, families build their futures on their own terms through access to decent housing. Will we get to meet the future Habitat homeowner from our build project? Habitat’s future homeowners have requirements to fulfill, which we call sweat equity. This includes construction on their home and the homes of others participating in Habitat’s homeownership program. It is possible you will get to work with the homeowners. Other volunteer opportunities also include working in a Habitat ReStore where you will have the opportunity to work alongside Habitat staff and other volunteers. Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County Volunteers are the foundation of Habitat for Humanity. Each year, over 2,000 individuals volunteer to help build homes for families in east and central Pasco County, helping families see their dream of homeownership become a reality. Volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity. Each year, more than 2,000 individuals volunteer with us to help build safe, affordable homes for families in East and Central Pasco County — turning the dream of homeownership into reality. Age requirements Ages 16–17: May participate in most construction activities but are not permitted to use power tools. Ages 18+: Eligible for all build activities. Volunteer activities As a construction volunteer, you may assist with a variety of homebuilding tasks, including: Setting trusses Installing soffit and fascia Installing insulation board Installing windows, doors, and cabinets Installing trim work Landscaping and more Construction needs can change quickly depending on weather, subcontractor schedules, and the number of volunteers. Please be prepared for any type of activity. Final assignments are confirmed about one week before your scheduled volunteer day. What you need to know to prepare for a Habitat build site Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is fun, fast-paced and fulfilling. Here are some important general tips to keep in mind when preparing for a day volunteering on a Habitat build. Know you’re in good hands Usually, we don’t ask our new volunteers to bring anything except a great attitude and a willingness to be flexible. Safety is our number one priority. We discourage jewelry, loose-fitting clothing and items that could contribute to an accident. Wear sturdy close-toed shoes. We stress dressing for the weather, such as sunscreen and a hat in summer. We try to be specific about beginning times, ending times and provisions for lunch. Check with your contact for specific information. Be ready to learn and don’t be afraid to ask You don’t need to have prior construction experience to help with a Habitat build. Just come out with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Habitat provides the tools and supplies you will need while volunteering. Instruction is provided before you will be asked to complete a task. A site supervisor or construction leader will be onsite to make sure you feel safe and empowered. Speak up if you have questions. Ask for help if you need it! Get comfortable No matter your skill level, be willing to work and probably get a little dirty. Remember, you’re truly helping Habitat partner with families for decent, affordable shelter.

Donating to Habitat ReStore Zephyrhills is a simple way to support affordable housing and give your gently used items a second life. We gratefully accept a wide range of new and gently used home improvement items, furniture, and appliances. Every donation helps build homes, communities, and hope across east and central Pasco County. Items must be clean, safe, and reusable. We cannot accept damaged, broken, or unsafe items. Final acceptance is at the discretion of Habitat ReStore staff and volunteers. What we accept We accept the following items in clean, working, and sellable condition: Furniture (indoor and outdoor, no mattresses) Appliances (clean, under 10 years old, working condition) Cabinets (kitchen and bathroom) Building materials – doors, windows, lumber (6 ft+), insulation, roofing, trim Home decor and artwork Lighting fixtures and ceiling fans Tools, hardware, nails, screws, fasteners Bathroom fixtures – sinks, toilets (low flush), tubs, shower enclosures Flooring (boxed wood, ceramic, vinyl) Electrical parts and supplies Outdoor and patio furniture Hot water heaters (less than 2 years old, uninstalled) Paint (new only) and painting supplies Flat screen TVs (working with remote) Textiles: clean, bagged clothes, shoes, towels, sheets (for textile recycling) Items we cannot accept Mattresses Window blinds (unless new in sealed box) Desktop computers, printers, scanners, copiers Paint that is not new/sealed Unclean, broken, or heavily worn items Donation drop-off location Habitat ReStore Zephyrhills - 4700 Allen Rd, Zephyrhills, FL 33541 Drop-off hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM How to drop off: Use the blue gate next to the store for easy drive-through unloading.
