The Appalachian Coal Country Watershed Team is the result of a unique partnership between AmeriCorps VISTA and the Federal Office of Surface Mining (OSM) which seeks to place full-time VISTA volunteers in watershed associations throughout Coal Country. There are now almost 30 OSM/VISTA volunteers spread across 8 states. These OSM/VISTAs are often the only staff able to work full-time towards the interests of the watershed. Their work is built around a set of Core Goals: build capacity in the watershed organization
