Yakima Crisis Volunteer Program

Yakima, WA - 98902

Our organization operates a crisis line called Open Line and a sexual assault victim advocacy program. We utilize volunteers to staff the phones 24/7. Volunteers must complete a 40 hour training course before taking calls. Once they are trained they can work from their homes. Volunteers can choose Open Line or the Advocacy program or they can do both. Advocates will be trained to respond to the hospital to provide assistance for rape victims as they receive medical attention. Other work the Advocacy program does is community development. We try to educate the community on the dynamics of sexual violence. We provide prevention education as well. We are providing the next training in November. We always need volunteers and we would love an intern interesed in doing this work.
