Wetlands Restoration Project (part of the Common Ground Collective)

New Orleans, LA - 70117

(609) 462-3854

The Common Ground Wetlands Restoration program was created to proactively address the dangers faced by New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. We will work to bring immediate attention to the ecological and political causes and effects of hurricane devastation in 2005. Katrina and Rita hit home a message: ignoring environmental problems has lethal consequences. Our action will be in a context of cooperation and respect for the long standing work of the many wetlands groups throughout the Gulf region and most importantly in solidarity and consideration of the people of the Gulf Coast. Conservation with compassion. We are looking for volunteers willing to spend at least two weeks and ideally a good chunk of the summer of 2006 working for wetlands restoration. Environmental educators and folks with biological research experience
