The VISTA Service-Learning Initiative is best described by analyzing the name. Our initiative is to provide VISTA volunteer opportunities across the state of Florida. We have two focuses - K-12 schools and the Higher Education system. Our K-12 focus concentrates on the promotion of service-learning in schools. Service-learning is a method by which youth learn and develop through active participation in thoughtfully organized service experiences. These projects vary from the environment to tutoring. Our newest endeavour is the Higher Ed VISTAs. There focus will be to promote meaningful community service opportunities for college students. VISTAS are working in the areas of literacy digital divide
