562-728-6800 The mission of Long Beach BLAST (Better Learning After School Today) is to improve after school learning for at-risk children and youth through collaboration. Goals: 1. Provide skilled and caring volunteers to act as academic mentors for children at-risk of school failure. 2. Offer academic enrichment opportunities to after school programs in high risk neighborhoods through volunteer skills or specialized enrichment programming that supports California academic content standards. 3. Promote community activities to build capacity for both new and existing after school services for children and youth. 4. Build community partnerships that strengthen services provided to children and youth.
