Rolling Readers of South Carolina is a non-profit children's literacy group .Our mission statement is simple .We want to improve literacy rates by generating excitement about reading and learning among children.We believe the best way to accomplish this is through read alouds in schools,Head Starts,women's shelters and anywhere else that children can be found.Our volunteers commit to one hour a week to give story-time at the same location ,thus forming a mentor relationship based on a love of books.In addition,Rolling Readers sponsers book give aways twice a year,giving some children the chance to own their very first book.We believe a love of reading is an essential component in succeeding in school .
