Thank you for your interest in the Bethlehem Inn. We provide food and shelter for those experiencing homelessness in Central Oregon. We also offer job skills training, case management services and transportation for residents, and a Work Experience Program, employing residents in various parts of the organization. We’re proud of our accomplishments, which are the result of the dedication and hard work of our directors and staff, as well as the support of our donors, volunteers and many community organizations, the City of Bend and Deschutes County.
Long before the Inn was a place, it was a feeling. It was a need and a hope on the part of the people of Bend to ensure that no one was left in the cold. Today, the Bethlehem Inn is Central Oregon's largest emergency shelter for homeless families, men and women of our region.
Every night of the year, 75 adults and children experiencing homelessness come to the Bethlehem Inn in search of shelter, food and support.
There are always opportunities to help out at the Inn, and it doesn’t have to be a huge commitment. For example, front desk shifts start at two hours, and we're happy to work with your schedule. We need immediate volunteer help in the following areas:
Meal Preparers and Kitchen Coordinator The Inn provides thousands of meals without a commercial kitchen. How is such a thing possible? Because of folks just like you. Meals are prepared off site by individuals, families & friends, businesses, faith-based and community groups. Those same people then come in and serve the meal. There are many ways to accomplish this vital task and we can help you tailor your participation. You can even shop in our pantry for the ingredients! Thanks to a very successful food drive, we have a well-stocked pantry. We also have large restaurant style pans that you can borrow to use in the preparation and transportation of your meal.
We are currently looking for volunteers to work the Front Desk. The Front Desk is manned by Volunteers 7 days a week from 6 am to 10 pm. Confidentiality, punctuality and dependability are key skills. The ability to interact with staff, residents, the public, and various agencies and businesses is required.
The Bethlehem Inn is seeking additional board members with varied backgrounds and experience to help the Inn continue to develop and meet the growing demand for emergency shelter in the area. Click here for more information or an application.

The following lists the most important ways in which you can help:
OUR TOP 5 FINANCIAL NEEDS:
1. Operating Expenses
Cash donations are critical to our ability to provide shelter and services on a 24 / 7 basis.
Without a commercial kitchen, we are dependent on meals prepared offsite by volunteers.
3. Redeemable Cans & Bottles
These translate directly into cash for us. A nickel here, a dime there. It all adds up. This is an excellent opportunity for schools and community groups!
4. Visa or Other Retail Gift Cards These allow our staff to purchase supplies and materials as needed.
5. Unwanted Vehicles
A quick and easy way to generate a cash donation for us and a tax deduction for you.
