Volunteer Expeditions is a nonprofit travel-planning organization for groups. We plan your group's volunteer trip to rebuild New Orleans, tutor children in Jamaica, and help the homeless and hungry in Chicago and Washington, DC. On your trip, you might paint a home for someone in need one day, tutor underprivileged children the next, spend a few hours planting trees and then clean a local park. We also want you to have fun - we arrange for tours of the city, expert speakers, and delicious local cuisine for your meals. We arrange all your volunteer opportunities, land transportation, meals, activities, and hotels so you can focus on giving back. Your trip is fully customized to fit your time frame, budget, and interests. We have five years of experience working with religious organizations, schools, families, and corporations to plan incredible trips for their members. Contact us today to find out how we can help your group! Volunteer Information: We have four volunteer trips we would love to take your group on. New Orleans: After Hurricane Katrina and the broken levees flooded New Orleans in 2005, the city as it was known to thousands of people seemed destroyed. In the years since, New Orleans has made huge strides in recovering. But help is still needed. Six years after the floods, 10,000 families were still without homes as a direct effect of the storm (St. Bernard Project). You and your group can help those affected by this disaster by building, insulating, and painting homes; serving meals in soup kitchens; sorting donations at a food bank; and restoring the Bayou. Our most popular destination by far, New Orleans is a beautiful city with a rich local culture. You値l be inspired, educated, and entertained on your volunteer vacation to the Big Easy. Jamaica: Your first-world education puts you in a unique position where you have the world at your feet. On this trip to beautiful Jamaica, you have the opportunity to share your knowledge with those who are less fortunate. Spend an unforgettable week tutoring children on this sunny island with your group and we can guarantee you値l be inspired. Work with children in schools, an orphanage, and a school for the blind and become a role model. You値l stay in the comfortable Smokey Manor, eat delicious Jamaican cuisine, and even visit the gorgeous Dunn痴 River Falls. Chicago: has long been idolized in song and story, but it is also a city in need of help. Working with our partner, JCC Chicago, you will take steps towards ending homelessness and hunger in our home city on your volunteer trip. You値l work with amazing groups dedicated to the cause, including Street Wise, WITS, and The Night Ministry. Speakers will provide frames of reference to give context to the good deeds you accomplish. And, of course, we値l take you to many of Chicago痴 famous attractions. Ride the Navy Pier Ferris wheel, take pictures at the Bean, discover history, and sample our beloved deep dish pizza! Washington, DC: is home to our federal government, iconic history, world-famous monuments, and fascinating museums. But it is also a community with a large and needful homeless population. For this volunteer tour, we have combined our vast experience in working with religious groups, school groups, and families achieving personal and spiritual goals with that of our partners at Amizade, who specialize in service-learning trips. In DC, you値l volunteer with several local organizations working to eradicate homelessness and hunger, hear from speakers and activists in these groups and others, and see such famous sites as the Holocaust Memorial Museum, Smithsonian museums, and our national monuments. Can you make a donation? Volunteer Expeditions needs donations. Donation Information: We need donations to stay afloat! Your trip fee includes the hotel, land transportation, donations to the organizations you work with, most meals, and administrative costs. Trouble is, we don't like charging too much for our administrative costs and instead pass the savings on to you and the donations on to our partners. But we need help paying for our routine costs - phone and internet, marketing, etc. (We don't have an office and our president has never taken a salary - that's how much we want to keep your costs low!)
